The famed Gunfight at OK Corral is re-enacted for tourists every afternoon at 2.0 pm by a group of actors/enthusiasts.
Unhappily three days ago a live bullet, used unknowingly, ended in the groin of one of the participants. A woman spectator suffered minor shrapnel injury but did not need hospital treatment.
I believe it's made the papers back home but none of this was mentioned or alluded to when we paid our 10 dollars on Tuesday though we knew checks have been tightened.
All went okay though one of their number seemed to be missing !
The 134th anniversary of the notorious shoot-out is in on October 26 when the names of Wyatt Earp, his brothers Virgil and Morgan and Doc Holliday will once again feature strongly.
Wyatt lived to be 80 before his death in 1929 in Los Angeles after a colourful and controversial life which included refereeing a world heavyweight boxing title fight in 1896 in San Francisco.
On his death Wyatt, had been with his common-law wife Josie for 47 years.
