Botanical Gardens - 20th October

Lynda and I took another walk in Catalina State Park while the Daves expended more energy on their cycle ride.

Our walk took us over the stream on four occasions, and today I took my sandals off each time, feeling the cool of the water and the smoothed particles beneath my feet, which was therapeutic.  Lynda boldly used the stepping stones where possible.

We arrived back much later than planned so had a brunch rather than the intended breakfast, and started out on our afternoon trip later than expected, which was to the Botanical Gardens.

Apart from the cacti, succulents and other drought resistant plants, there was an exhibition of "sculptures" built from Lego - butterfly, humming bird, bee etc.

The range of cacti and succulents was large and, although many plants were not flowering, there were enough to make a bright show.

The butterfly house was also a big hit, although many of the examples were flapping wings as opposed to displaying them, so the photographic record is poor!

There were also some tiny, but bright frogs, yellow, blue and green.

On the way home we visited the Shelter - a cocktail bar frequented by a good friend (from Zambian days) some years ago, so it held nostalgia for us.

A first for me today was using a "drive-through" post office to send my cards off to the U.K.!
